Definition

This indicator measures the percentage of children who, with support from Save the Children (SC) and/or its partners, report an improvement in their abilities to exercise civil rights and freedoms and navigate challenges and restrictions sector to civic space imposed by the government or other stakeholders such as the private sector.

Numerator

The number of children reporting increased abilities to exercise their civil rights and freedoms and navigate challenges and restrictions.

Denominator

The total number of surveyed children supported by SC and/or its partners

Recommended Means of Verification

Measuring this indicator requires looking at:
(1) Participant Surveys and Feedback: Direct feedback collected from children through surveys or interviews, capturing their experiences and perceptions regarding the improvement of their abilities to exercise their civil rights and freedoms and navigate restrictions to civic space.
(2) Focus Group Discussions and Interviews: Qualitative data gathered through discussions and interviews with children, providing deeper insights into their abilities to exercise their civil rights and freedoms and navigate challenges to civic space.

To calculate the indicator, divide the number of children who report improvement in their ability to exercise their civil rights and freedoms and navigate challenges and restrictions to civic space by the total number of children supported by Save the Children (SC) and/or its partners OR The size of a representative sample of children supported by Save the Children (SC) and/or its partners. Multiply the result by 100 to convert it to a percentage.

Purpose

The indicator aims to assess the effectiveness of SC's interventions in empowering children enhancing their capacities, and improving their ability to exercise civil rights and freedoms and navigate challenges and restrictions imposed by the government or other stakeholders.
