Children receiving valid third dose of vaccines (DTP/Hep B/PCV/Hib/Rotavirus)
Indicator Name
Indicator ID in PRIME
Definition
This indicator measures the percentage of children aged 12-23 months who received the valid third dose of DTP/Hep B/PCV/Hib/Rotavirus containing vaccine.
For the dosage of these vaccines to be valid, vaccinations need to be administered within 28 days of each other.
Numerator
Number of children aged 12-23 months who received the valid third dose of DTP/Hep B/PCV/Hib/Rotavirus containing vaccine
Denominator
Total number of children aged 12-23 months in the target group for each vaccine
There are two ways to measure this indicator.
(1) Looking at the following data sources for:
Numerator: program/project records, health facility immunization records, or national/sub-regional HMIS/DHIS.
Denominator: the country's national/sub-regional population estimates for the SC program/project intervention areas.
(2) Conducting individual interviews with a representative sample of mothers or caregivers of children aged 12-23 months, inquiring if their children received the third dose of DTP/Hep B/PCV/Hib/Rotavirus vaccine in the last specified time period. This information can be gathered via:
a) Vaccination Card:
Do you have a card or other document where [name]'s vaccinations are written down?
Did you ever have a vaccination card for [name]?
Record vaccination dates from vaccination card in a checklist containing the list of DTP/Hep B/PCV/Hib/Rotavirus vaccines with their respective doses 1,2,3.
Take note of number of children who received third doses.
or
b) Mother's report to the following questions:
Has [name] ever receive a [DTP/Hep B/PCV/Hib/Rotavirus] vaccine, that is, [brief explanation of purpose of vaccination]?
If yes, how many times did [name] receive the [DTP/Hep B/PCV/Hib/Rotavirus] vaccine?
To calculate the indicator's value, divide the number of children aged 12-23 months who received the valid third dose of DTP/Hep B/PCV/Hib/Rotavirus containing vaccine by the total number of children aged 12-23 months in the target group for each vaccine. Multiply the result by 100 to convert it to a percentage.
For the dosage of these vaccines to be valid, vaccinations need to be administered within 28 days of each other.
