Definition

This indicator measures the percentage of children in Numeracy Boost projects who gain numeracy skills.

Numerator

Number of children having completed two grades of primary school *and* are recorded as participants in a Save the Children supported Numeracy Boost project who can conduct double digit adding and subtracting within 20 (i.e. they can score 75% in the relevant operations within the numeracy assessment where the sum or minuend does not surpass 20 (Numeracy Boost or EGMA)).

Denominator

Number of children having completed two grades of primary school *and* are recorded as participants in a Save the Children supported Numeracy Boost project who participated in the assessment. Please use MEAL PIRS to state the total number of children registered in the project(s). If a sample learning assessment survey was used please use use MEAL PIRS under Source of Data to show sampling method, sample size, confidence level, confidence interval, size of target population and the effect size where a comparison group was also assessed.

Measuring this indicator requires using the Numeracy Boost assessment or the Early Grade Math Assessment.

To measure this indicator, divide the number of children who achieve 75% in double digit addition and subtraction by the number of children who participated in the assessment. Multiply the result by 100 to convert it to a percentage.
