Indicator ID in PRIME

IN00057322

Definition

Children enrolled in schools, ECCD centres, safe spaces, and any other learning space where Save the Children or a partner supported by Save the Children (with funds or substantial technical assistance) supported the school/learning space or home learning project to improve its climate resilience. This may be through training, technical assistance, or funding, and may include support for activities described in the Climate Resilience in Education Programme Offer.

Support may include training, assistance or funding for the education leaders to work towards developing the following: training teachers on environmental / climate crisis & how to assess and reduce risks, prepare, adapt and act in response to hazards and threats; support to children to act as agents of change in their schools and community and call for more climate justice; measures to improve climate resilience, safety and accessibility and protection of the environment; develop plans for education continuity, risk reduction or anticipatory action. The indicator value is the number of schools or other learning spaces and home learning projects supported multiplied by the children enrolled in the same.

Recommended Means of Verification

Calculation: # of schools/learning spaces supported for climate resilience improvements multiplied by # of children enrolled in the schools/learning spaces.

Data collection: # of schools/learning spaces collected from project lists. Take enrollment registers where SC is providing the learning space. For government schools, the number enrolled may be collected via summary forms from visits to local government offices or schools, or e-mail requests for enrollment data from the same.

Source: project lists of supported schools/learning spaces; enrollment records from projects or local government.

Who to collect: Project Coordinators and Managers. This should NOT be left only to MEAL colleagues. This is basic monitoring done as part of project management.

How to count aggregate: report on the gender, disability, and age, etc, disaggregation from enrollment records where available. Take care to count the enrolled population of schools only once - ensure that you have at least an estimate of UNIQUE children. Take care to ensure that the school/learning space has actually been supported in the reporting period before including its enrollment data. The number actually supported may be different from the number on the project list of targeted schools/learning spaces.
