Definition

Definition

This indicator measures the percentage of women and/or girls who report decision making power relevant to their lives. This may include decision making power related to, for example, marriage, sexual relations, contraceptive use and reproductive health care, finances, education, political or community-level decision-making etc. The indicator should be customized according to sector. It will be assessed using a scale that looks at full, partial or no decision making power.

It is essential for the indicator to be disaggregated by sex/gender and age at minimum, and ideal to disaggregate for other grounds of inequality (e.g. race/ethnicity, disability, nationality and internally displaced, refugee and migrant status, slum residency) wherever possible.
