Definition

Definition

This indicator measures the proportion of schools that have a Limited Hygiene service (as defined by the WHO/UNICEF Joint Monitoring Programme for Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene) out of the total number of schools in the project area over a specified time period.

Note: Handwashing facilities may be fixed or mobile and include a sink with tap water, buckets with taps, tippy-taps, and jugs or basins designated for handwashing. Soap includes bar soap, liquid soap, powder detergent, and soapy water, but does not include ash, soil, sand, or other handwashing agents.
Note: Points of care are defined here as any location in the health care facility where care or treatment is delivered (i.e., consultation/exam rooms), with priority given to outpatient departments.

Numerator

Number of schools within the Save the Children program that have a Limited Hygiene service over a specified period of time.

Denominator

Total number of schools within the Save the Children program
