Definition

This indicator measures the number of children participating in the Literacy Boost project who, by the end of two grades of primary schooling, demonstrate that they can read with comprehension.

Please use MEAL PIRS to state which of the two tools was used. If a sample survey was used, please use MEAL PIRS under Source of Data to show sampling method, sample size, confidence level, confidence interval, size of target population, and the effect size where a comparison group was also assessed.

Numerator

Children participating in a Literacy Boost project after completion of two grades of primary school who are able to answer 75% of comprehension questions correctly on the reading passage subtest of the literacy assessment (Literacy Boost or EGRA)

Denominator

Children participating in a Literacy Boost project who completed two grades of primary school participated in the assessment

Measuring this indicator requires working from:
1) Literacy Boost Reading Assessment OR
2) EGRA Reading Assessment

This indicator's value is the number of children participating in the Literacy Boost project who, by the end of two grades of primary schooling, demonstrate that they can read with comprehension, divided by Children participating in the Literacy Boost project who completed two grades of primary school and participated in the assessment. Multiply the result by 100 to convert it to a percentage.
