| Denominator | 1) Total number of deliveries in the facility during the same project specified period |
Recommended Means of Verification
There are two methods to measure this indicator:
(1) Looking at data from health facility service statistics, HMIS/DHIS2, program records, and postnatal registers.
To calculate the indicator's value, divide the number of women who had postpartum contact in a health facility over the project-specified time period by the total number of deliveries in the facility during the same project-specified period. Multiply the result by 100 to convert it to a percentage.
(2) Collect the following data by conducting individual interviews with a representative sample of women aged 15-49 years who in the project specified time period delivered a live child: if any health-care provider checked on her health at a facility or at home or another place in days after delivery, how long after delivery this occurred, who checked her health and after discharge from facility, was a health check conducted (with similar questions on timing, location, who performed check)
(Note: sequence of questions about details of postpartum contact will differ depending on whether the delivery occurred in/outside a health facility)
To calculate the indicator's value, divide the number of women aged 15-49 years who had postnatal contact with a health-care provider within 2 days after delivery of their most recent live birth by the total number of women aged 15-49 years with a live birth. Multiply the result by 100 to convert it to a percentage.
