This indicator measures the number of children and adults who have been supported by Save the Children (SC) and/or its partners to actively participate in accountability processes, direct advocacy engagement, influencing public investment in children, campaigning, and public decision-making. Accountability processes include institutional accountability processes, such as child rights reporting to human rights mechanisms (e.g., the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), Universal Periodic Review (UPR), African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (ACERWC)), and voluntary reporting into SDG reviews. They include as well as social accountability processes that involve holding local authorities accountable through community-based initiatives. Campaigning involves engaging the public to shift political conditions for changes in policy and/or practice. Public decision-making encompasses active involvement in public governance processes that affect children's rights, such as public budget consultations, policy formulation dialogues, and legislative hearings on child-related issues.
