Recommended Means of Verification
Measuring this indicator requires the use of program/project monitoring data, including the total number of children identified or registered through outreach activities or similar interventions, as well as the use of data that records referrals and case management outcomes.
To calculate this indicator, divide the total number of Save the Children (SC) and/or partner supported children on the move (migrant children, irregular migrant children, children with refugee/asylum seeker status, internally displaced children) who have successfully secured documentation which provides temporary or permanent protection or legal status granting access to essential services, by the total number of children on the move identified by Save the Children and implementing partners during the same period. Multiply the result by 100 to calculate the percentage.
Purpose
To provide insight into the extent to which migrating and displaced children access documentation, which is a challenge in many contexts, and without which, children experience barriers to fulfilling rights to essential services such as education, protection, healthcare, and pathways to legal status, such as citizenship or permanent residence. While we are working to refer children to services and actively advocating for documentation for migrating and displaced children, this indicator can be used as a measure of the effectiveness of our interventions. It can also be used as a source of information for advocacy.
